David Daws was engaged by EBBA to conduct an hour long cornet masterclass on the Friday morning.
On his arrival at the MartiniPlaza, David was directed to the wrong room and stumbled into an EBBA conference meeting by mistake.
When he found the correct room, it turned out to be a bar area containing round tables for standing at and about a dozen armchairs strewn randomly around the room. When I arrived at the venue, there must have been over 50 people queueing outside waiting for the masterclass.
David finally managed to convince some jobsworth from the MartiniPlaza that extra chairs were required although he was told that he'd have to put them out himself!
While waiting for the chairs to arrive, David and I moved the tables and armchairs into a more formal arrangement.
We opened the doors AFTER the masterclass should have started and the audience collected their own chairs from the trolleys on which they had been delivered.
To my knowledge, at no time, either before, during or after, were there any representatives from EBBA or the Dutch Federation present.
I feel that was a quite appalling way to treat a world-class soloist.
