Dave over z'n eigen bugels:
Here is an old Monette flugelhorn - one of only two made from the 1980's - before there were FLUMPETS! We have had this horn in recently for repair work. I never really liked flugelhorns much. They feel like the valves sit too high above the face to be comfortable, and the old designs that are imitated and mass produced have proportions that squeeze the edges of the sound until they distort. Like Dean WIlloughby recently said, those old horns often feel like you have too small a tube connected to too large a tube - and that's how they sound and play! Thankfully we make FLUMPETS, and our clients love them!
