Een jazzclub is niet compleet zonder zijn eigen sessie, zonder een ontmoetingsplek voor muzikanten, maar bovenal een speelplek zonder grenzen. Voor het publiek is dit dé kans om muzikanten te zien buiten hun vaste bandbezettingen en in de meest uiteenlopende samenstellingen. Daarom presenteert StraightupJazz in BIRD iedere woensdag BIRDsessions. Bassist Guus Bakker is zeker geen onbekende in de Nederlandse jazzscene. Hij speelde onder meer met Wende Snijders, Eric Vloeimans, Wouter Hamel en Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. Vanavond neemt hij de volgende geweldige muzikanten mee: Rein Godefroy (keys), Michiel Stekelenburg (gitaar) en Salle de Jonge (drums).
